Thoughts from the August 2009 taping

The taping last night went well. As usual, I had a bunch of pages of notes of stuff that I though I'd get to, and nonetheless meandered off into a bunch of topics that I hadn't thought much about so I never got back to the last two pages of stuff.

So, you missed me talking about "Watchmen" at lunch with the folks in my group, including someone I'll call "Mark-with-a-K" instead of his real name so that I'm protecting his identity. "Mark-with-a-K" watches a lot of television and movies, because he's single and because nobody loves him, but I suspect that he's also doing other stuff while he's watching them, because his opinion of "Watchmen" was that it totally sucked because it was too slow and not enough stuff happened, while somehow missing entirely the premise of the movie, which is that sometimes the folks that we think are the "good" guys end up, maybe, being the "bad" guys because they're either psychopaths or because they think they're doing the right thing. If you're just watching a movie occasionally, maybe at the same time as you're writing code or cleaning the house, or whatever, you'd miss that bit.
